Truth be told, Tropic was off my radar until a conversation with Michelle Buchanan about skincare during perimenopause and menopause piqued my interest. Serving as an independent ambassador for Tropic Skincare, Michelle’s passion for the brand and her radiant appearance piqued my curiosity, prompting her to share some product samples with me.
I’ve been candid about my views on menopause skincare in the past, yet I recognize the importance of pampering our skin during these changing times. I’m as eager as anyone for that miraculous glow-up.
Could Tropic Skincare be the source of that desired radiance?
What is Tropic Skincare?
Tropic Skincare stands out as a celebrated beauty brand, offering a collection of products that span across makeup, skincare, body care, hair care, and even items for babies.
What Did I Review?
Michelle sent me the Skin Discovery Kit – Nourish, a limited-edition set featuring:
- Smoothing Cleanser complexion purifier – which comes with a bamboo face cloth. This oil-based, creamy formula features jojoba oil, green tea extract and aloe vera juice and has won several awards. It comes in two versions: scented and (you guessed it!) unscented;
- Skin Dream age-defying firming cream concentrate – another award-winning product with plant-ceramide complexes to keep moisture in and free radicals out, a bio-retinol derived from the blackjack flower and bakuchiol, and murumuru butter to give your skin those vital fatty acids;
- Elixir age-defying omega oil – with omega-rich ingredients – rosehip, moringa, jojoba, plum kernel and kiwi seed oils – to nourish and hydrate and vitamin E to stimulate collagen. And yup, it’s another award-winner…
- and Rainforest Dew hydration serum – more awards here for this serum, which contains hyaluronic acid and matcha tea extract to counter any redness.
The blurb promises: “Akin to the most nourishing snacks you’d take on a journey to keep you going strong, the minis in this skincare gift set have been carefully selected to keep skin hydrated, strong and ready to face all of life’s adventures.”
Instructions say to cleanse, then it’s serum, moisturizer, and finally the Elixir.
The Products I Didn’t Like
I’ll start by addressing the products that didn’t quite hit the mark for me, specifically the cleanser and the Rainforest Dew hydration serum.
Here’s a confession that might just banish me from every beauty-related Facebook group out there: cream cleansers and I do not get along. Despite never having a good experience with the Liz Earle variant, this one proved no different.
While it’s a decent product that doesn’t leave your skin feeling parched or tight, my preference leans towards foamier options, likely a result of those Camay soap commercials from my childhood.
Key Ingredients of the Cleanser
- Golden jojoba oil: Moisturizing without being greasy
- Green tea extract: Antioxidant-rich for extra skin protection
- Eucalyptus: Naturally refreshing and cooling
The issue with the Rainforest Dew hydration serum wasn’t that I disliked it. Following the instructions, I found myself needing at least six drops for it to spread over my skin adequately, often even more, which seemed to benefit my hands more than my face. It’s a peculiar habit of mine with oils, and I’m open to advice on what I might be doing wrong.
Key Ingredients
- Hyaluronic acid: Keeps moisture locked in
- Aloe vera juice: Soothes and cools
- Matcha tea extract: Provides antioxidant protection
The Products I Liked
The Elixir was a different story entirely – it was love at first application. Unlike other oils, it effortlessly swept across my face, leaving it feeling nourished and silky smooth. It was as if my skin had taken a long, refreshing sip of water. Plus, its subtle and lovely fragrance was a bonus. I incorporated it into both my daytime and nighttime routines, applying makeup over it with ease, and dare I say, my skin even had a glow. It’s clear why it’s a top seller.
Key Ingredients
- Rosehip oil: Known for its regenerative properties
- Pomegranate seed oil: Helps to boost skin radiance
- Vitamin E: An antioxidant that nourishes and protects
Moving on to the Skin Dream moisturizer, I found myself initially captivated by its scent, reminiscent of Gü Free From Chocolate & Vanilla Cheesecake – absolutely divine. Its comforting aroma was so soothing, it even seemed to improve my sleep.
Key Ingredients
- Hibiscus flower extract: Boosts collagen production
- Peptides: Promote skin elasticity
- Hyaluronic acid: Deep hydration without heaviness
The cream itself strikes a perfect balance, being luxurious without the heaviness often found in night creams. It’s gentle and light yet remarkably effective at hydrating and nourishing the skin. I’ve found it hard to find another nighttime moisturizer that compares.
The Bottom Line
While my personal journey with Tropic Skincare had its ups and downs, the true testament to its efficacy came unexpectedly through social media. Sharing my experiences online, I received unsolicited praise for my skin’s appearance, a compliment that speaks volumes more than any personal review could.
It’s clear that Tropic Skincare holds the potential to transform skin, making it a brand worth exploring for those in search of their own skincare adventure.
